alamak i have so much to blog about.
the past two weeks have been truly one hell of a ride. Japan one week, and upon touchdown it was another week of Saints Bowling events. Continous.
Alright i needa take my mind off bowling for once. here's japan for you guys! enjoy the documentary.
Winter Fantasy 2006 Pt. I
Okay so I copied the theme from somewhere - you guys will find out soon enough. What my family had signed up for was an 8 day tour - six in Hokkaido and two more in Tokyo - but as most tour agencies go 8 days aren't exactly 8 days. Nevertheless i was pretty excited pre-trip due largely to all the good comments I had been receiving about the place and all that stuff on tv that i saw, well i simply couldn't wait for it to begin.
Day 1:
And of course it began on a flight. Went home after training and lunching and to the realisation that i had not finished packing. Ha so panic mode set in. But it turned out alright. Simply threw much of my wardrobe into the luggage and that was that - i was ready for japan!
The flight was scheduled for 2350 hours. And so that means after boarding the plane and 10 minutes after lift-off, day 1 was over and day 2 had begun.
Yeah that's why i say tour agencies' definitions of days definitely are a little different from that of a commoner. But lift-off was scary - i thought i heard the tip of the aircraft tail touch the runway. haha paranoia i guess. But turbulence was crazy - imagine eating your meal with your apple juice tipping left and right.
Day 2:
watched the lakehouse on the flight but fell asleep halfway. Keanu reeves should just stick to his own matrix coz that was one hell of a bore. but not bad JAL has personalised entertainment systems per passenger.
Kansai International Airport (read chinese: see shit). yeah thats in Osaka. Waited at the airport for a million years for the transit flight. (we went to hokkaido via osaka) yeah at the same time coz of a grumbling stomach i went to macdonalds in a bid to buy a few burgers. so much for project work huh? haha aniwae it was my first horrigible experience i was needed to get used to for the rest of the trip.
"Ohayo gozaimas" (good morning in jap)
"oh er. hello okay erm i dun speak japanese. haha yeah"
(the female staff serving me immediately looks as if she just saw ju-on and runs to the back to get her manager)
"yo. erm can i have one of this?"
(points to filet o fish)
(obviously the manager is no better in english)
"er... %$*^%*%*&%*%*^%*%*^
(sorry foreign language i dun understand)"
"yeahh yeahh one one this burger yes. just the burger"
"%*!#(^(!$^(&$%^*!&^!(*^(!$^*%^"
"oh no jia lat. erm 220 yen. yes 220 yen"
"!#&(&%(^($#^(^!(&^!(^(!*)"
(he proceeds to key in something to the cash register)
"ahh yes gd!"
(when i see 220 yen light up on the LED screen. presumably my order is correct)
haha finally i take the paper bag one with burger inside away from the restaurant - so paiseh to make the already long queue get longer over one stupid burger.
so the moral of the story is -
japanese have no freaking idea how to speak english.
was shopping around the airport when i saw this:
read "shot time" (short time)
if you think this is funny u ain't seen nothing yet.
aniwae the morning was damn boring. the connecting flight was at 11.45am which meant i slept for 2 hrs at the airport. haha felt like i was taking part in amazing race and den waiting for flight nothing to do den go sleep in public just like that. ironically so. and my stupid brother caught my sleeping on video. wth.
the flight there was easier. slept all the way again. this time no video. thank god.
so we finally reached lovely hokkaido and boy it was cold. and the first thing we did was to go?
shopping.
yeah boring right. i know. i expected more. but i bought a bag. haha yeah one bag on the first day of my trip. brilliant. shopped finish and wad happens? we check into our hotel. and that's exciting day 2.
love this pic. took it after my dinner - the stuff outside the restaurant were beautiful.
Day 3:
VERY EARLY morning call. 6am local time which is siao siao 5am singapore time. i think most of us didn't even open our eyes during breakfast.
but breakfast was gd. man the best the trip had to offer. there were prawn fritters! and the best thing was the prawns were woo fresh! shiok. took countless of them. and that was my breakfast - prawns. ha intersting lifestyle. living the life of a fishmonger.
first destination? this ski jump used for the 1972 Winter Sapporo Games. quite a sight coz well i've never seen a ski jump in my life before live in front of me. and its really quite a magnificent thing. wonder how those crazy idiots do it. i know i'll confirm break my two legs and two arms and prob spill some brain juice at the same time.
thats me my bro and my two cousins.
yup that's the place. after that we headed to two separate places which showed us how they manufactured their products. firstly was this chocolate factory.
but of course it it were some normal chocolate i wouldn't bother blogging about it right? all sorts of chocolates are found all over japan - but this is arguably the best one. simply put - i love eating it - even after ten times, twenty times. man the taste is brillaint.
it's called "bai zhi lian ren". and their main product is the one shown above - a thick enough layer without being too thick a layer of white milk chocolate, coated around with soft baked cookies that can just melt in your mouth from the word go. it is really really amazingly nice to eat, able to blend the right amount of sweetness without causing a toothache, and smartly blending in the soft cookie to give the entire chocolate an all around feel.
aniwaes if you're suddenly having a huge craving now you can look for me i prob can give u one to sample. haha coz i bought one box for the team but forgot to give them during training and brought it back home - yeahh so i still have one more box remaining somewhere in my room.
alright we'll be back after the break. don't switch channels for you are watching discovery's destination week: japan.
ok take a break. its a long enough post. nites pple.
