one cool thing about OCS is that you keep a journal, sort of like a diary young ones like to keep to dot their daily happenings, it is the same for us cadets as we go through our 38 week journey in officer cadet school.

sometimes, i'm just bored during lectures and i take out my journal to pin down whatever's on my mind. it could be anything - i've written from daily happenings to my bookout highlights to news affecting the world.

that day i was wondering why am i just keeping all those words in that journal to myself and then i thought, why not place some up here? haha. it would be quite fun. so here are some excerpts; enjoy!

23 June 2008:

"Welcome to Officer Cadet School!

I can't believe this day has actually arrived, where I actually become an Officer Cadet. To be honest, the shock of posting results on Friday still somewhat lingers, and that state of half-happy / half-sad seems to be stuck still."

4 July 2008:

"Nicholas booked out today for SAJC's College Day (Awards ceremony and stuff) and I was pretty sad I wasn't able to be there because well, my grades aren't as good and there's no awards for me! Haha. Well, kept thinking about all my friends there and it kind of made me miss the good ol' life, where things were really easy. Well I guess we've all moved on to another place in life, certainly a more challenging one, and hopefully it will furnish me with wonderful memories like the past one did."

11 June 2008: (First bookout after my three week confinement)

"You know what day is today - it's BOOKOUT DAY!

Never have I felt so happy for the past 3 weeks, and I know as I smile while writing this journal entry at home.

Looking back on the past 3 weeks, life has certainly transformed. A lot of time you question - what makes this worth? Then, the little things like the people around you (cheering you on), the stories you hear at the army museum, these tell you it's worth the experience and worth fighting for. I'm glad my platoon has manged to function rather efficiently and I am sure for one thing we're the standard bearers for our wing. With teamwork and practice, I'm sure we can raise it ever higher for the weeks to come.

In any case, I'm just gonna enjoy these 48 hours. Smiles all over the world tonight. =)"

that's enough snippets for tonight, haha maybe more sharing next time. Anyway that was basically a little of my first three weeks of OCS, and as i type this, 18 weeks have flown by. As Monday dawns, it is the start of the 19th week, which also concides as the halfway point of our journey as an officer cadet.

bookout's now so precious it's worth its weight in gold. And there's so much in my head i need to insert a piece of filter paper in between my left and right brain. may it all turn out well. love the world and i love you all. ciao pple.
